Born in Toronto, Canada on December 18, 1976, Trisha Stratigias (later known as Trish Status) never could have dreamed that she would become a success as a fitness model, and sports entertainment and television celebrity.
While coveted and promoted for her appearance and sex appeal, few realize how cerebral a young woman she is as well. What other wrestling honey would cite Brave New World as her favorite book? Believe it or not, Trish studied biology and kinesiology at York University in Toronto with the goal of one day entering medical school.
Super Trish!
During this time she became interested more and more in weight training and fitness, and developed a particular fascination for comic book sirens and muscle magazine vixens. In her mind, the determined Trish knew that with the right mental approach and discipline, she too could have what she termed the “ideal comic [strip] body.”
Harnessing her gymnastic training and her knowledge of bodybuilding, Trish began working out six days a week and followed a strict diet. She found employment as a receptionist at a health club and was discovered soon thereafter.
Embarking on a career as a fitness model, Trish was gracing the cover of popular magazines in a short period of time. The opportunities to model and subsequent demands on her time accelerated at a rapid pace and she decided to leave university when a staff strike canceled class. It would not be long before the WWF would call.
A Beauty in the Ring
Trish Stratus made her debut in March of 2000. She has since been marketed as a scheming siren not above using her feminine charm to achieve her goals. While she began as a manager for the tag team of Test and Albert — T & A — Trish has since become a ring regular, matching up against other WWF female stars such as Lita and Molly Holly.
In another indication that she is more than just a stunning physical specimen, Trish was named co-host of WWF Excess, airing every Saturday on TNN.
Overall Rating
We try and try to find a reason not to like Trish Stratus but she continues to bodyslam our hearts into submission. While wrestling may be staged and scripted like a Greek tragedy, there is nothing fake about the athletic ability required to execute certain moves inside of the proverbial square circle. Hence our argument that Trish is a contemporary renaissance hottie.
What other woman could subsist in a male-dominated world like the WWF, maintain her femininity (sorry Chyna) and give the beat down to one opponent after another without chipping a nail?
There are other women eager to steal her crown as uber-babe of pro wrestling but none have had the assets needed to dethrone Trish. By every indication, she is the perfect all-American girl: blonde, hot as Georgia asphalt, angelic yet corruptible, ambitious, athletic, and born to perform.
Audiences, both live and television, drool over her, admire her and cheer for her. She was the hottest cheerleader in your high school, she is the girl at the gym who distracts you during a set with her sports bra (and the fact that she is lifting more than you are) and she is the girl who will break your arm if you attempt to push up on that round booty at the club. What a woman!
Personality and Talent
Trish has talent but her personality is difficult to measure when you consider that she is a character in the world of professional wrestling. In effect, Chief Executive Officer Vince McMahon (Say what you will about McMahon, the egomaniacal, omnipotent ruler of the sports entertainment universe, but never underestimate his ability to make or break a career) owns her personality and has her every televised move scripted into his continuing saga of “The Buff and The Restless.”
In terms of talent, we reject the cynical position that wrestling is devoid of skill. Trish not only must commit to maintaining her chiseled physique, adhering a strict diet and exercise regimen, but she must also act and perform. Most would agree that the acting in the WWF is not on par with a Martin Scorsese directed film. Yet the argument could be made that it is no worse than the average soap opera or WB situation comedy.
With a full slate of television and stadium appearances, Trish must memorize a considerable amount of material and act it out live. In addition, the performance is demanding from a physical standpoint.
In clothing that is revealing and tight, the compact Trish must execute a series of acrobatic stunts in the ring, simulating a violent match with her opponent. What many observers fail to realize is that it is often more difficult to avoid injury to yourself and to your ring counterpart than it is to wrestle without a script. So give the lady her dues!
Sexiness
We could write an opus on the sex appeal of Trish Stratus. Her physique for one is unreal. This could be taken in a literal sense, since we doubt the authenticity of some of her more noticeable qualities (is that pout collagen enhanced?). Nevertheless, whether it be with the aid of a surgeon or the random act of genetics or a combination of the two, Trish is a vision. She is a fantasy of course, a creation of the puppetmaster McMahon and his WWF underlings. Yet we can enjoy the result, can we not?
Who can pull off a ring entrance in a full-length fur coat, heels, Stetson, tight miniskirt and push-up corset like Trish? Her body is a model of sculpted perfection, carved as if out of marble as an homage to a Norse goddess. She has put in her time at the gym and in the operating room and has crafted a fine specimen in the process.
Where she turns the heat up even more is in her attitude. It is all well and good to be framed like an Italian sports car but if you are dull as a doorknob, the average man will tune you out. Not Trish however. Her smile and playful seductive nature are impossible to resist. Not to mention feisty. We like feisty.
Accomplishments and Fame
Her current claim to fame, in addition to being the object of desire of every man in North America, is that she is the reigning female WWF champion. Thus she is required to parade around with a large gold belt around her cut abdominal region, making her even more desirable.
The term “household name” is often used in excess but it may not be inappropriate in reference to Trish Stratus. After all, the WWF is still pulling in high ratings with astonishing consistency, despite being televised on cable in the United States and pitted against Monday Night Football every week during RAW. The young male demographic has been captured for years and as the core audience, has transformed the likes of Trish (i.e. Sable, Debra and Lita) into media sensations.
With appearances on the cover of almost every major bodybuilding and health magazine, Trish has broadened her appeal beyond the world of sports entertainment. She has been featured in publications such as Oxygen and Muscle and Fitness and is a regular on the The Sports Network show Off The Record, hosted by Michael Landsberg and seen in her native Canada.
The WWF diva also posed for a Play..boy lingerie shoot. She has yet to accept an offer to appear nude for the magazine, despite the jack collected by other women of the WWF when they yielded to the financial enticement of Hugh Hefner. So far, Trish is content with her fame and fortune and we hope she stays that way.
Natural Beauty
What sets Trish apart from the other women of the WWF is that she does not look like a man — or a horse for that matter. She actually does possess a great deal of natural beauty. Her face is above average to look at, pretty even, which is often the exception rather than the rule when you consider how muscular the rest of her body is. The fact that she has been able to retain her feminine appeal with such a ripped physique is a bonus.
Personal Style
Scandalously short skirts, high heels, cleavage-bearing tops, manicured nails, and glossy lips. In the name of all that is holy and sacred, when will all hot women emulate Trish Stratus? Yes we realize that she is at the mercy of a WWF stylist, but let us for a second imagine that she would choose to dress this way even if she were a librarian.
